Rotarians learn about mental wellness

Steve TerrillA local man who is trying to raise awareness regarding mental wellness was the featured speaker at the Bellefontaine Rotary Club meeting Monday afternoon.

Steve Terrill of Huntsville discussed how mental wellness can impact our family and community.

He cited drug addiction and suicide across Ohio.

Terrill is a trained mental wellness advocate.

He and his wife, Debbie, completed an intensive training over the summer.

Mr. Terrill said that mental health knowledge will allow us to help those who are suffering.

He will be a hosting a training called Mental Health First Aid, which is in collaboration with C.O.R.E. and the Suicide Prevention Coalition.

The training will be held at Indian Lake Community Church on January 13th and 20th.

Each session will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Terrill is a board member of the Mental Health Drug & Alcohol Services Board of Logan and Champaign Counties and a member of the L.O.S.S. Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors).

The Bellefontaine Rotary Club meets every Monday at noon at the Hilliker Y.

Next week's meeting will feature the Bellefontaine High School Les Fons show choir.
