Arson fire destroys rural garage; ex-boyfriend named suspect

An arson fire destroyed a garage near East Liberty Monday morning around 12:45.

The Perry Township Fire Department responded to Ruby Everly's 8724 County Road 2 home.

A resident noticed the fire.

Another occupant started moving vehicles parked near the garage.

The building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Chainsaws, air conditioners, weight equipment, and other miscellaneous items were destroyed.

A 2006 Honda Odyssey, 2003 Honda Pilot, and Husqvarna mower sustained damage.

The family said there was no power to the garage.

The home was not damaged.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office and State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the fire.

The family gave authorities a named suspect.

The family believes the suspect was targeting an ex-girlfriend.

The man was convicted of aggravated arson ten years ago.

No one was injured.

Fire crews were on scene for about two hours.
