Lotts wins BMS Spelling Bee for third straight year

Grant Lotts43 students from grades 6-8 competed in the annual spelling bee at Bellefontaine Middle School on Thursday.

Eighth-grader Grant Lotts emerged as the winner by spelling the championship word, “merengue.”

This is the third year in a row that Grant won the school's bee.

The runner-up was 7th-grader Leanna Brown.Leanna Brown

Grant and Leanna will represent Bellefontaine Middle School in the Logan County Spelling Bee held in January.

Also in January, Grant will take an online spelling and vocabulary test to attempt to qualify for the next level in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
