Election results unchanged following mandatory recount

The Logan County Board of Elections and Champaign County Board of Elections report no changes following a mandatory recount in the West Liberty-Salem school board race.

Six candidates ran for three seats.

The top two positions were secure.

Dave Cline finished with 799 votes.

Incumbent Chuck Buck received 792 votes.

The recount was for the third board member.

Former teacher Tim Lamb had 741 votes and write-in candidate Julie Cole recorded 728 votes.

The recount was held Thursday morning.

Here are the numbers from the race.

1. David S. Cline 474 votes (Logan County) 325 votes (Champaign County) Total: 799 votes
2. Chuck Buck 435 votes (Logan County) 357 votes (Champaign County) Total: 792 votes
3. Tim Lamb 409 votes (Logan County) 332 votes (Champaign County) Total: 741 votes
4. Julie Cole (Write-In) 446 votes (Logan County) 282 votes (Champaign County) Total: 728 votes
5. Dixie Kopus 311 votes (Logan County) 235 votes (Champaign County) Total: 546 votes
6. Trey Richardson 310 votes (Logan County) 231 votes (Champaign County) Total: 541 votes

For races that overlap into other counties, the Secretary of State has to declare that there is a need for a recount.

A mandatory recount is ordered when the candidates are within one-half of one percent.
